A practical starting point for Malayalees returning from abroad: protect savings, test the idea, and compare NORKA-linked finance with other routes.
Returning from abroad often brings a lump sum, pressure from family, and many proposals. That combination makes it easy to overpay for a franchise, partnership, building, or machine. Take time to test demand and let a bank or experienced operator challenge the numbers before committing savings.
NORKA Roots has operated the NORKA Department Project for Returned Emigrants (NDPREM) for qualifying returnees who want to start an enterprise. The terms, eligible activities, and participating financial institutions must be confirmed with NORKA Roots because programme details can change. A past period of overseas employment and return status may be part of whether you may qualify.
A returnee may also fit the higher-category treatment in a state enterprise route, PMEGP for a new eligible project, or a normal bank/KFC route. Compare total own money, debt, subsidy, rate, collateral expectations, and the cost of waiting. The best route is the one that leaves enough capital to operate after the launch.
