Road safety raises the surveillance question more
sharply than any other program, so the answers
matter most here.
Q. Is this not just more surveillance of drivers?
A. It is the opposite of the existing camera network
in the one way that matters: it is opt-in and it never
penalises. A driver chooses to submit segments to
earn recognition; nothing is logged against a driver
who does not. The program adjudicates no fines,
enforcement stays entirely with the MVD, so there is
no penalty to fear from participating.
Q. Why would a driver opt in at all?
A. For the same reasons the engine works
everywhere: points and fuel discounts to start, then
stand and college rankings, and, uniquely here; a
real insurance discount on an audited safe-driving
