Objections, answered
Volunteering’s objections centre on neutrality and
on gaming of hours.
Q. Won’t a faith-and-institution leaderboard
become divisive?
A. It records hours, not affiliations, and surfaces no
religious or political marker in any ranking. The
ledger’s entire credibility depends on no community
feeling it is a proxy for something else, so neutrality
is a hard design rule, not a courtesy. Institutions
compete on service rendered, full stop.
Q. What stops a friendly coordinator from
inflating hours?
A. Two-party verification, periodic audit of sign-offs,
anomaly flags on implausible totals, and a single deduplicated ledger so one shift cannot be claimed by
several bodies. The top-ranked institutions’ records
are published for audit, which is itself a deterrent.
Q. Why fund a program that earns almost
nothing?
