The four together work as an engine, because each compounds the others, and in operation they are inseparable. Chapter 1 named the three abstract components of the feedback loop. Mechanism one, the loyalty economy as on-ramp A citizen performs a verifiable civic action. They submit a photo or a short clip; the system verifies it; they receive points redeemable at participating local businesses. A free coffee at a corridor café, a discount at a salon, a dessert with dinner. The points are small, and they are not the reason the behaviour persists.
