A nurse moves to Ireland and keeps her Indian family floater running for her parents and for the year she returns. Her own treatment in Ireland is covered by her Irish employer's scheme. When she comes home on leave and falls ill, the Indian policy pays.
Territorial scope is India unless the policy specifically includes global cover (a few premium plans do, at a cost). Premium can be paid from abroad. Renewal continuity preserves waiting-period credit for when you return.

If you will never return and have no family on the policy, lapsing it is rational.
